Hong Kong Kids Fencing Competition Calendar 2026–27 (Ages 6–16)
Looking for the key fencing competition dates for children in Hong Kong ages about 6–16? This post from Hong Kong Fencing Master summarises the pathway — from friendly club events to school championships — and points you to our live calendar hub for the full list.
For younger fencers in BB and Petite / Petite Star, read our companion guide Young Children's Fencing Competition Guide Hong Kong (Ages 3.5–8). This article focuses on primary through early secondary ages (~6–16) and the major Hong Kong events parents ask about each season.
Where to find the live calendar
Bookmark Hong Kong Major Fencing Competitions for Children — our Competition Guide page. We keep event names, organisers and suggested badge levels there. Dates that are not yet published by the organiser are marked TBC; always confirm with your coach before entering.
Discovery class at school vs Professional at the centre
Many children first meet foil through a 1-hour Discovery class (ages 5–13), usually run at schools. Discovery builds interest, coordination and safe basics. When a child is ready for more volume and competition pathway work, they move into Professional class at our Central centre — longer sessions, badge exams and coach-led competition planning. You do not need to have competed already to book a trial; coaches place each child by age and experience.
The competition ladder (ages ~6–16)
Use badge level as a readiness guide, then confirm with your coach. Public ladder details live on Badge Level Assessments and the badge exam site.
Master Star / Master Kids (in-house, every quarter) — Suggested: Mini Star 1 for BB; Badge 1+ for Petite and older. Friendly first piste. Listed Master Kids 2026 dates on our Master Star page: 22 March, 19 June, 26 September and 6 December 2026.
Selected external / district events — Suggested: Badge 2+. Dates vary by organiser (TBC each season — check the Competition Guide and your coach).
BOC Youth / Kowloon City–style age-group events — Suggested: Badge 3. Exact 2026–27 dates: TBC — confirm with coach when entries open.
HKSSF (local school pathway) & ISSFHK (international schools) — Suggested: Badge 4+. Entry is through the school, not parents. ISSFHK Fencing Championships 2026–27: 5–6 December 2026 (U14 & U20). HKSSF 2026–27 calendar: TBC (HKSSF secondary fencing had 1,571 entries in 2025–26). Read HKSSF vs ISSFHK Fencing: A Parents' Guide and ISSFHK Fencing Championships 2026-27: A Parent's Guide (U14 & U20).
HKFA U14 / Open pathway — Suggested: Badge 5 recommended (Badge 4 as a stretch challenge with coach approval). 2026–27 dates: TBC via HKFA / your coach.

Suggested badge level at a glance
Master Star / Master Kids — Mini Star 1 (BB); Badge 1+ for others

BOC / Kowloon City–type events — Badge 3
HKSSF / ISSFHK — Badge 4+
HKFA U14 / Open — Badge 5 recommended; Badge 4 challenge with coach
How this fits younger ages
If your child is still in BB or early Petite, do not jump straight to school championships. Our morning guide Young Children's Fencing Competition Guide Hong Kong (Ages 3.5–8) explains Master Star first, when to wait, and a Beyond the Medal mindset. School Discovery classes (ages 5–13) often feed into Petite and Musketeer Professional classes before any HKSSF or ISSFHK entry.
Parent tips for the season
Treat the Competition Guide page as the source of truth for dates; this blog is the shareable summary.
Ask your coach before every entry — badge level is a guide, not a guarantee.
Keep school Discovery attendance and centre Professional class consistent; competitions support training, they do not replace it.
Entry for HKSSF and ISSFHK goes through the school fencing teacher or PE department.
